Davis Island

The weekends for us, isn’t just a break from school work, it’s a time to spend all day soaking up the sun and exploring! Today’s perfect weather of 85 degrees brought us into Davis Island, Florida. A small Island, a bridge away from Tampa. We rented bikes, and took the half hour journey over to the island. Davis island was covered in plants and had a small town vibe. It reminded us of home in New Jersey because it sits right on the water and is a welcoming neighborhood. We rode all the way from the North-end to the South-end of the Island, exploring everything in-between. Our first stop was a beautiful Garden, inviting us in with a flower covered entrance. We rode through the garden and followed the path down to the Marina. We followed the path to the docks and against the water. At the end of the path, there a was a concrete ledge that we sat on and kept our eyes peeled for manatees. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any, but we did encounter some flying fish! They jumped gracefully about 6 feet from the water, it was really amazing to see! After staying there and relaxing for a bit, we headed down the coast of the island, talking and giggling the whole way. At the south-end of the island, there is a small airport, we sat and watched as many planes took off. To finish our adventure, we explored the center of the town and looked in the little shops and restaurants. Davis Island was a great get away and cute little town to explore! In total we rode 7.5 miles, maybe not having a car isn’t so bad afterall!
